Custom Industrial Decals & Placards
An industrial decal is a printed, adhesive-backed identification product built to stay on equipment for its entire service life, standing up to the chemicals, heat, sunlight, and abrasion that would break down an ordinary label. NPI – Nameplates Inc. manufactures custom decals and placards in vinyl, polyester, polycarbonate, and anodized aluminum, matching the substrate, adhesive, and finish to the surface and the environment.
Whether you need a handful of prototypes or a full production run, we help you design and produce decals that identify, brand, warn, and track your products, and keep doing it years down the line.
What's the Difference Between a Decal and a Placard?
Decal Materials
The material a decal is made from decides how long it lasts and what it can resist. We produce decals in four core materials and recommend the one that fits your environment.
Vinyl and polyester are two of our most-used materials. Vinyl is conformable, cost-effective, and highly printable, with strong scuff and UV resistance and up to eight years of outdoor life when paired with a UV-inhibiting laminate. Polyester, also known by the brand name Mylar, offers excellent clarity and dimensional stability along with heat, tear, abrasion, and chemical resistance, which makes it a workhorse for rating and barcode decals.
Polycarbonate, sometimes called by the brand name Lexan, is tough and flexible, easy to die cut, and available in a range of textures, a strong choice for graphic-heavy decals and equipment placards.
For the most demanding conditions, we produce metal decals in Metalphoto® anodized aluminum. As a certified Metalphoto® converter, NPI seals a high-resolution image beneath the anodized surface, where it resists high temperatures, abrasion, corrosion, and chemicals for decades without fading or chipping.
Types of Decals We Manufacture
We manufacture custom decals for identification, safety, tracking, and compliance across virtually every industrial application.
Tracking & Asset Identification Decals
Barcode decals, serial number decals, asset decals, and inventory decals connect each unit to its part number, batch, and service history for warranty tracking, asset management, and audits. We print variable data, including barcodes, QR codes, and sequential serial numbers, so every decal in a run can carry unique information at production scale.
